The Prado Musem is one of the most popular museums worldwide. It was started to build in the end of the XVIII century, ordered by king Charles III, and initially its use would be of a Natural History Institute. The architect was Juan de Villanueva, which also built the Botanic Garden, just next to the Prado.
In the Prado we can gaze at some of the most important painters of all times such as El Greco, Ribera, Zurbarán, Velázquez, Murillo, Goya, Van der Weyden, Hieronymous Bosch, Titian or Rubens.
Not long ago, the virtual visit of the Museum was inaugurated, so we can watch their gallery from home. Strongly recommended to visit before going to the museum, as it can saves us much time.

In 1920, the baron Hans Heinrich Thyssen-Bornemisza started to collect numerous classic-art masterpieces, which was completed with modern art by his son, the actual baron, creating a unique art collection.
Having reached an agreement with the Spanish government, the former Palacio de Villanueva was granted to the Thyssen family for the exhibition of their collection in this museum which was inaugurated on October 8th, 1992.
As we said, in this museum we can find an unusual mix of classic and modern art, with works from the German Renaissance like Durero, rococó (Watteau, Boucher), impresionism (Manet, Van Gogh) or even works from Kandinski and Lucian Freud in the XX century..

The National Archeologic Museum was founded in 1867 ordered by the Queen Elisabeth II. Its creation was motivated by the need of having a museum where, like in other European countries, they could manage and preserve archeological, etnographic and numismatic goods that the previous Spanish Kings had gathered in the Royal Library, the Natural History Gabinet and other institutions.
Later, this heritage has been increased with shoppings, donations and archeological excavations made all over the country.
